It used to be that only fringe hippie types were terribly concerned about the phasing out of natural and healthy food products from our food and medicine. But all over the world, big pharma and companies like Monsanto have conspired with donation-hungry politicians to make many innocuous plant products inaccessible to the general public.
Few if any places in the world have a medical police state that’s as oppressive as Australia’s. The Australian government has denied parents entitlement checks for failing to subject their children to aggressive vaccination schedules that have been proven to be dangerous. They have also been pushing hard to make herbal medicines illegal, thereby giving a complete medicinal monopoly to the makers of harsh chemical pharmaceutical products.
Well, Australians can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being as their representatives have rejected a big pharma-backed initiative to outlaw natural medicine entirely. It’s a major win for the island nation as they have been under the strongest attack in regards to their freedom to choose how to care for their own health.
Australia has been seen as a kind of testing ground for anti-freedom initiatives like gun bans, language prescriptions, and affirmative action initiatives. This has been the case for sufficiently long that their victory in the area of herbal medicine stands in sharp contrast to the norm.
But what’s most surprising about this development is that it has actually revealed the fact that it was the so-called “Green Party” that was against herbal medicine all along. This is a revelation that could lead to a cultural shift where the Green Party and other related movements are no longer seen as representing the people.
The effort to ban herbal medicine sought to label all traditional and complementary medicine as being based on pseudoscience. This could have easily been extended to home remedies, Internet advice, and much more. It has raised the specter of the possibility of a total ban on all interventions not performed by a representative of the medical establishment.
In addition to this, it would likely lead to a medical-governmental coalition where medical personnel would be required to turn in citizens who are suspected of performing any medical intervention. An act as simple as giving warm honey-water to a child who has a cough could- potentially- be made illicit by such a ban.
It is, in fact, implications of this kind that caused the ban to fail ultimately. People could easily foresee the draconian restrictions that would be just around the corner. And, just as the debate has revealed the Greens are, well, not so green, it has also given away the position of entities that want to impose a medical-police-state on Australia.
The push by the Greens to ban herbal medicine was defeated by a countermeasure called The Therapeutic Goods Amendment (2017 Measures No. 1) Bill. It passed on the 15th of February. According to Jon Rappoport, it “[…] supports positive claims for complementary medicines based on traditional evidence, and abolishes the current complaints system.”
It was a major eye opener for Green Party voters who learned that the leader of the party, Senator Dr. Richard Di Natale, had been working on a pro big pharma agenda to ban alternative medicine. His claim is that there is no alternative to modern medicine.
Minister for Rural Health, Senator Bridget McKenzie, said, “It is offensive and disrespectful to those who practice traditional medicine.”
It may be offensive. But feelings aside, the filed effort by the Greens flies in the face of a landslide of verifiable evidence that shows the great health benefits of many herbal remedies that people can access on their own, without the permission of state-sanctioned medical bodies.
The freedom to choose what does and does not go into one’s own body is a natural right that no human can justly infringe upon. This is a self-evident fact that the Australian government has given its citizens little hope of being upheld until now.
